Formal Education and Training
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Psychology, Integral Counseling from California Institute for Integral Studies. Integral counseling encompasses the unity of heart, mind, body and spirit. It also recognizes the interdependence of the individual, family, community and environment. My training includes working with trauma, child therapy and family therapy as well as individual and couples therapy. It also includes training in psychodynamic therapy, psychoanalytic therapy, Jungian therapy and dream work. I also have been trained in Gestalt therapy, group dynamics, and human development. I have training and experience in multicultural issues and social justice.
I also hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics from Whitman College and a Juris Doctor degree from University of Washington School of Law. Academic honors include graduating from college cum laude with distinction as well as membership in the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa, Whitman College’s Mortar Board and UW Law School’s Moot Court Honor Board. As a lawyer, my practice focused on civil rights.
Post-graduate training and experience includes training and experience in psychoanalytic therapy, play therapy (for children), and working with children who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect.
I have experience in a variety of settings and with people in various stages of life, including community mental health, working with older adults in their homes, and as a child and family therapist.
